Our
Practice
Philosophy

Our team approach encompasses the physical and psychological needs of our pet cats and dogs.

Our patients are all ages, sizes and often have concurrent medical issues that may be related to the behavioral concern.    Each behavior consultation has one veterinarian and one trainer assigned, or in some cases two veterinarians.  We are all Certified Fear Free Professionals and work with positive reinforcement techniques as recommended by the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior.  Some clients and pets have already been working with an appropriate trainer, and we will support that relationship.   Much of our work is focused on educating owners about canine and feline behavior.  We work to create a positive and trusting relationship between our pets and humans. We do not condone the use of confrontational or aversive training techniques.

Before the consultation, each inquiry receives an “intake” call by our Behavior Coordinator or Administrative Assistant.  Our process begins with the collection of data: the Behavior Questionnaire, Medical Records, and Videos. These are reviewed prior to the in person or remote consultation.

We are driven by our passion for the humane treatment of our pet animals.

During the consultation we review the materials, observe the pet (s), and make preliminary recommendations that encompass Management, Behavior Modification, Medication, and Monitoring.
After the consult, a comprehensive document is created and shared with the pet owners, primary veterinarians, and trainers.   Hands on support for certain skills may be appropriate at later dates, and follow ups with Dr. Cutler typically occur every 3 months. Each case is unique so our follow up program may be altered to meet your needs and your pets needs.

“Our family is delighted with the extraordinary care our 7-year old dog Mimi receives from At Home Vet Care. Entlebucher Mountain Dogs are not very common in the US, yet Dr. Cutler took the time to learn everything she could about the breed before her first visit at a few weeks old. Her caring and kind demeanor, as well as the fact that she comes to your house, instantly puts your pet at ease. In fact, Mimi is thrilled every time Dr. Cutler rings our doorbell!”
